The Importance of preserving ones own culture

By preserving a culture, one keeps the traditions, family values, sociological standards and mores, and language. One keeps their personal identity intact.

By not preserving a culture, it all goes away and people cease to have their family background intact. No one knows what the family meant, what the traditions are and where the family came from. Nor could they appreciate the family history and struggles made.

Pollution (cause and effect)

Our Topic for our final project is Pollution. We decided to educate our students about this issue since it is a major problem nowadays which will effect our children of today and tomorrow. Awaring the community will help promote healthier enviroment for our children of tomorrow.

How can I make a Difference

Well, I strongly believe that after learning these skills on using or intergrating the curriculum by Blogs, I will encourage our leaders of the DOE department to let or allow their schools in to using technology in their classrooms to promote learning for both teachers, parents and students. This will allows everyone to benefit from technology as well.

Hi and bye,

Since we are having network problem, we might work together and convince our teacher for exeptional on submission date.

Limited time

My time is limted and somehow won't be able to contribute to blog sometimes. Classes and work might be tight up and hopefully less work later.

Pohnpei

A peaceful, energitic, and wonderous place to spend your vacation. You can view endless waterfalls, rivers, and many respectful places made by our ancestors, which you can learn more about Pohnpeian culture.

Pohnpei literary means on the altar and it is believe a place for sacrifices because of it name. It has the most spectacular fishing spot and attracted places for tourists because the places can answer your guess for people of long age and they survived. There are places made up of huge stones that you will never imagine how they were made referred to lives long age. The land is so beautiful. Many waterfalls and rivers, the best place to celebrate your holidays because they have beautiful views. The land was surrounding by the road, people can travel around the island for less than one day by car. Pohnpei is also the best place to visit especially when you want to learn new culture because the people are friendly and kindly. You can learn easily and quickly through the interactions between people.
For me to make a difference here in Pohnpei Professionally, I would choose a career that monitors, perserves, and the same time sell our marine resources. The lands of FSM can't be seen on a map, but the size of our EEZ is about the size of the United States. Hundreds of ships sail through the pacific taking millions worth of our resources and we take only a small percentage. This is because we don't have the resources to monitor and police our resources. We also don't have the resources to fish and collect our marine resources for bigger profit. Personally I want to make people aware of this problem, to change their attitude toward our marine resources. If the Compact ended, the only resource that can sustain our economy is the marine resource. But this is just me, the vid is to experiment on this site...you might like it.

Hello everyone, I know that this is my first post and that some of you might not know me. I am a special ed teacher here in Pohnpei, although i am not that special. I have been working as a teacher for 5 to 6 years. Computer courses are one of my favorite subjects other than marine, so typing this aimless stream of thoughts onto this computer is very fun even though i don't have much to say. Here is a picture of me and a friend of mine. I wish you the best and i'll make sure you hear from me more.
See ya' later

Final project proposal

Greetings from the island of Pohnpei. Our team have decided to work on a topic concerning the preservation of our culture. We think that this is something important to us and any other student of Micronesia. Some people used to say, "You have to know your own culture before you can appreciate other cultures". How can you understand other languages if you don't know your own. Our ancestors knew what the society needed in order to preserve it so they have came up with traditions that have prevailed. I hope that this might make some sense to some of you. I would love to hear your comments on this subject.

Welcome on board the few of you--who appeared as contributors. What is going on with the rest of you? I indeed sent an invitation. If you have not received a gmail from me (the invitation email), please email me soon at belleminjuan. Thank you!
Greetings to all! The correct name for the blog should be "Pohnpei Met". We think we know our own spelling. The would "met", meaning "here/now", may be pronounced as "mech" and not "match" which could mean something else. So please change it back as soon as pssible. We enjoyed your visit very much and look forward to comming weeks.

Learned

I really learned a lot during your visit to our island. Google Earth, Google Doc, Blogging, and Wikipedia are wonderful tools that all educators should be aware of. Even though access to the internet is limited there are some technological developments and I believe it will get better as we move forward.

thank you,
